Mazarians receive NJCPA 2023 Ovation Award

Congratulations to Chris Mitchell, Daniel McGuckin, Kristen Walters and Olga Lubomirsky on this important recognition!

The awards, announced Oct. 4 at the 2023 NJCPA Convention & Expo in Atlantic City, N.J., were distributed in seven categories: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Emerging Leaders; Exceptional Educators; Impact; Innovation; Lifetime Leader; and Woman to Watch.

About the awards and winners

The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion category recognizes champions of diversity, equity and inclusion who work passionately to make the accounting and finance profession open, welcoming and fair. It honors those who encourage and promote initiatives and change, regardless of race, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, disability status or other dimension of diversity.

Chris, Diversity and Culture Manager, has consistently demonstrated a fervent commitment to breaking down barriers and fostering an environment of openness, acceptance and fairness. His passion for promoting diversity, equity and inclusion goes beyond mere rhetoric; he has actively led initiatives that have resulted in tangible improvements.

The Emerging Leaders category recognizes savvy superstars who’ve been working in the accounting profession for 10 years or less and have had noteworthy professional accomplishments; combined personal and professional achievements that merit special recognition; and/or actively participated in the advancement of the profession or NJCPA.

Daniel, Senior Manager, has worked closely with the firm’s learning and development team to mentor new staff and ensure they progress and remain in the accounting industry. He has contributed to several publications, with the most recent appearing on the NJCPA website fall edition.

The Woman to Watch category recognizes the growth and success of female NJCPA members for their leadership, potential, contributions and/or commitment to fostering colleagues’ success.

Kristen, Partner and Food and Beverage Practice Leader, is enthusiastic about the retention and advancement of women at the firm. A committee member of Women@Mazars, Kristen’s commitment to both her food and beverage clients centers around providing timely, thoughtful content and insights to run their businesses strategically.

Olga, Senior Manager, is committed to excellent client service and mentors many young professionals. Olga volunteered for the NJCPA tax call-in program for the past three years. She supports diversity and inclusion initiatives, supports her team as a career coach and professional trainer, and is a member of the NJCPA Federal Taxation Interest Group.

With more than 14,000 members, the NJCPA represents the interests of the accounting profession and advances the financial well-being of the people of New Jersey. The NJCPA plays a leadership role in supporting the profession by providing members with educational resources, access to shared knowledge, and a continuing effort to create and expand professional opportunities.
