Alisha Jernack, Ken Pogrob and Sofia Cordero Awarded New Jersey Society of CPAs 2021 Ovation Awards

Mazars, a leading audit, tax, and advisory firm in the US, announced that Alisha Jernack has received the NJCPA 2021 Innovation Ovation Award, Kenneth Pogrob received the Impact Ovation Award, and Sofia Cordero received the Emerging Leaders Ovation Award.

The awards, announced June 17, 2021 at the NJCPA Virtual Convention, were distributed in seven categories: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion; Emerging Leaders; Exceptional Educators; Impact; Innovation; Lifetime Leader; and Women to Watch.

About the Awards and Winners

The Innovation award recognizes individuals who are driving innovation of all kinds in accounting.

Alisha, a Partner in the New Jersey office, was recognized for leading the Mazars COVID-19 Business Advisory team in the U.S. She is a member of the NJCPA Ocean/Monmouth Board of Directors, part of the Student Programs and Scholarships Committee and recently completed a four-year term as student mentor. Alisha has been featured on podcasts, webcasts and panels, in articles, at external speaking engagements and has been quoted in BloombergAccounting TodayNJ Biz and ROI – NJ.

The Impact category recognizes those who dedicate meaningful time and energy to giving back to the community; sharing professional expertise to support others; or advancing the interests and needs of the accounting profession through active engagement, leadership or advocacy.

Kenneth, a Partner in the New Jersey Office, was the Chairperson of the firm’s “WeAREMazars” committee for 10 years. In this role, he has made a large impact on the community through Mazars’ charitable donations and volunteer efforts. Two of the  most successful activities Ken led were the Annual Giving Theme, where the firm donates $100,000 annually to charities supporting a specific theme, and the annual Days of Service.

The Emerging Leaders category recognizes savvy superstars who have been working in the accounting profession 10 years or less and have had noteworthy professional accomplishments; combined personal and professional achievements that merit special recognition; and/or actively participated in the advancement of the profession or NJCPA.

Sofia, a Manager in the New Jersey Accounting & Advisory Practice, is known as a leader who cultivates productive team environments by keeping peers engaged and motivated. She is a member of the Emerging Leaders Council for the NJCPA, as well as the Scholarship and Students committee. She has authored and contributed to several articles and thought leadership pieces on several topics throughout her career.
