Mazars Donates $100,000 to Local Charities

New York, NY – September 25, 2020
Mazars, an international audit, tax and advisory firm, today announced that the Mazars in the United States’ We ARE Mazars Philanthropic Committee has launched the Spreading Sunshine Campaign – an initiative to donate $100,000 to support charities in their geographic communities.

Due to COVID-19, many organizations have struggled to raise funds and Mazars also had to postpone its Annual Days of Service, during which firm members are normally able to contribute their time to a variety of charitable causes. In distributing the $100,000, the firm gave consideration to the organizations where team members had planned on volunteering, as well as past recipients of donations under Mazars’ annual Giving Theme, which has previously focused on Hunger, Children’s Health & Wellness and Mental Health & Wellness.

Said Partner Ken Pogrob, who leads Mazars’ We ARE Mazars efforts, “We know how much of an impact COVID-19 has had on communities across the country and how much our team members look forward to giving back during our Annual Days of Service. We felt like this was one way the firm can continue to help during this difficult time and honor the community spirit of our firm members.”

Each of the firm’s offices was allocated funds to donate to charities in their geographic area and was provided a list of charities to consider. The final decisions on donation distribution were made jointly between the office We ARE Mazars’ Philanthropic Committee representatives and the Office Managing Partner.

The donations are already making a difference for dozens of charitable organizations. Katya Askar, Manager of Corporate Giving and Events of The Midnight Mission said, “Your donation will help us continue to deliver the one million meals we serve each year, the safe nights of sleep we provide for our unhoused neighbors, the transitional housing we use to keep families together, or the education and job placement services we offer, none of this vital work is possible without your kind gift.” Ken added, “We hope that the pandemic is resolved soon, and the firm can get back out into our various communities, helping people face to face.”
